Glamma's character

Jackpot Capital’s intrepid world traveler, Glamma, is in Macau in September for the Macau International Fireworks Display Contest and a lot more.  Glamma’s Adventures have taken her to many exciting, exotic, and humid places in the past few months and September in Macau is sure to be no exception.

On September 7, 14, and 21, and on October 1, when Glamma will no longer be in Macau, people in their thousands will gather at the sea in front of Macau Tower to ooh and ahh and ooh again at a display of fireworks like no other.

How Will Glamma Treat Gamers?

This month, Glamma’s Wheel is called the Fireworks Wonders Bonus Wheel. As you spin the wheel, you should hope for free spins, a $24 no deposit bonus, a 222% deposit bonus.  Gamers will play the free spins on Cai Hong, Panda’s Gold, and Golden Lotus.

All three gamers celebrate Macau by incorporating multipliers in the bonus rounds.  Golden Lotus takes place in an exotic Chinese garden.  Glamma is sure to find a wonderful garden to walk through in Macau.

What Else Will Glamma Do in Macau?

We knew you would wonder about how Glamma will fill a month of days in exotic Macau.

One area of special interest to Glamma is authentic Macanese food.  The people of Macau trace their heritage to Portugal and to Mainland China.  So, there is a kind of competition of cuisines going on in Macau.  While that competition is real, true Macanese food is a fusion of the Portuguese gastronomic tradition and the Chinese culinary arts.

Is Macau Part of China?

As of December 20, 1999, Macau is part of China.  It was settled by the Portuguese in 1557 and was a territory under Portuguese rule until they returned it to China in 1999.

Well over 90% of the Macanese people are Chinese.  Still, the Portuguese influence remains.  Most of the ancient buildings are of Portuguese origin.  The food is a blend of Chinese and Portuguese.

Does Macau Have Good Restaurants?

Macau is an island city of more than 700,000 residents. The natural beauty of the islands, the easy proximity to Mainland China, and the many casinos make Macau an international destination, swelling the steady population by hundreds of thousands of visitors.

The International Fireworks Display Contest attracts a lot of people who love a good fireworks show.

So, a city of this size with a cosmopolitan bent will have many good restaurants!

What Food Should a Visitor Sample?

Some of the foods that are famous in Macau are also famous in large American cities.  After all, Chinese food is one of the top cuisines in the United States.

Glamma is not travelling to Macau for the egg rolls, dim sum, or almond cookies.  Before she left for Macau, Glamma said to an interested observer that she can get eggrolls to die for in her hometown.  She is not a fan of dim sum and almond cookies are okay by Glamma but nothing to sit on a long flight for.

Is The Chop Bun on Glamma’s Itinerary?

Glamma says maybe once.  The Chop Bun is a pan-fried (not deep-fried) pork chop.  It has to be fried until is crispy on the outside while staying juicy and moist on the inside.  It is the most famous street food in Macau but Glamma has never been a big fan of street food, especially pork since it is so hot and humid in Macau and street food is….well, outdoors, on the street!

Okay, What Will Glamma Eat?

Our favorite septuagenarian will eat Caldo Verde.  This is a soup that dates back to old Portugal.  Caldo Verde is not strictly Portuguese since it combines so many different flavors, textures, and ingredients.  The base of the soup is collards which we know as a Southern American dish deeply enmeshed in the African-American palate.

The collards are sauteed in olive oil with garlic which makes it Italian.  It is usually served with a sausage which makes it German.  Most restaurants serve it with cornbread which returns us to the deep American southern tradition.

Glamma Will Eat in a Different Restaurant Every Day

So, Glamma will have a lot of time to sample true Macanese food.  Anyway, Glamma always tries to see as much of the sights as she can so food is a priority but not the number one priority.

The Historic Center of Macau

This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It covers quite a bit of land and Glamma is an adventurous sort, she is also a realistic sort so, she will take an organized walking tour of the Historic Center.  The walk will take them to the Monte Fort and the ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral among the 30 buildings in the center that are listed as Heritage Sites.

There is a lot of street shopping in the Center.  While most of it is touristy stuff, Glamma is sure that she can find exquisite hand-crafted items as well.  Here, again, is where Portugal and China meet.  Glamma will spend a good many hours looking for that unique dress, shawl, pashmina, or tablecloth that speaks both Chinese and Portuguese.

Macau’s Beaches

Since Macau is a peninsula that stretches from the Chinese Mainland into the Sout China Sea, there are a lot of beaches.  Glamma has spent quite a bit of time this year on beaches so this month she will wait for a cloudy day to walk on a beach.

As the temperatures will still be summery, a shower won’t bother Glamma as she walks along a beach.

Macau’s Casinos

Glamma will go into a casino.  She promises us that.  But if she really wants to play some casino games while she is in Macau, she will play on Jackpot Capital’s excellent mobile gaming platform.

Glamma has found that her travel days seem to fill up seemingly on their own and she doesn’t need or have the time for a lot of casino gaming.  She wants to go into a Macanese casino to watch the people.  The people who go to Macau to gamble are similar to the people who go to Monet Carlo to gamble.

They are dressed to the hilt.  They make wild bets.  Very few gamblers in Macau play blackjack or video poker using the best strategy on every hand.  When Glamma plays video poker or blackjack on our mobile platform, she always plays with top strategy.  At the end of a session, Glamma may be a little bit ahead or a little bit behind as the return to player rate in these games played with best strategy is about 99.5%!
