Keep a Small Carry-on Bag on Embarkation Day
You want it to be small. You should have a toothbrush and toothpaste and a change of clothes. Most people get their suitcases within a few hours but some have to wait several hours longer. So, channel your inner girl scout and Be Prepared!

There may be many different shows at different times and on different days. You will want to see as many shows as you can.

They will help you get oriented. They will answer any questions you may have.

You will probably be assigned a restaurant and a dinner time. You don’t have to eat at the same restaurant every night! Some restaurants are included in the price and some are extra. Check them all out.
A lot of cruisers go to the buffet for breakfast. Most of the restaurants are also open for breakfast. It will enhance your cruising experience if you go to a full-scale restaurant for breakfast.

Sometimes the ship docks right next to all the attractions and sometimes it docks a drive away. If you just want to explore the city by yourself, you won’t need to buy a land excursion for that day. Buy land excursions for those times you can’t go it alone.
See Every on-Board Event as a Special Event
Even karaoke is fun onboard. Midnight comedy will likely be for adults only and for good reason. A midnight snack at the buffet might be fruit, pizza, or whatever has been left over from that days’ meals reworked to make it different.
Does the Ship Have an Enforced Formal Night?
If yes, bring some special clothes. The ship might also have a white night where they encourage everyone to wear white.
